I am not much for New Year’s resolutions, unless they have to do with money. If you find yourself wanting to turn over a new financial leaf in 2022, I have some solid options for you:
To start an Ellevest account with as little as $1, with three months free (a $15 savings), click here. Remember, Ellevest is the all-female, NYC robo-platform that has over one billion in holdings. Founder, Sallie Krawcheck knows her stuff and has outperformed nearly every other platform out there. The interface is straightforward and you are able to roll over your existing accounts into them with ease.
To open an Acorns account, you can click here. I love them for their daily purchase round-up and monthly compound contribution features. Now you can retire the whole getting or eschewing that proverbial cup of coffee argument, because either way you are saving money. This platform is what I have used to invest for my daughter’s educations for the past eight years.
If you want in on the points game, American Express Platinum is offering 100,000 bonus points or American Express Mariott Bonvoy is offering 75,000 bonus points if you open a card this year. The former comes with a steep ($650) annual fee but if you travel a lot it is quickly offset by the free lounges (think: free airport food and drink for your entire family) and incidental airline credits up to $200 per statement, which includes flights under $200….so, free flights each month. The United Explorer Visa is offering 75,000 points if you open a card and United Mileage Plus has a robust way for you to continue to earn thousands of points all year long by taking Opinion Miles Club surveys.
Finally, if you are wanting to help your kids manage money, you can get them a no fee Mastercard and deposit weekly allowance funds into an account at Greenlight. Download the app and you can track chores and even encourage them to donate to local charities.
I do get a small kickback if you sign up through these links but once you sign up you can share with family and friends and get the very same incentives.
