Let’s talk turkey. Er, I mean chicken. I recently purchased a two-pack of organic, free-range chicken breasts from Whole Foods. The total weight was 1.5 pounds and the price was $9. Instead of using (read: wasting) them to make Chicken Parmesan for me and my six-year old, I broke them down into four portions.
With Chicken Parm, you have breading and cheese and sauce, so what started out as a 1/3 inch cutlet, made its way to an impressive piece of chicken once all was said and done.
I labeled and froze the three remaining portions and I figure if I eat chicken twice a week for a year, this will save me a whopping $648 dollars. Invested over 20 years, this will grow to $2627.
As it turns out, hope is a thing with feathers.

Notes:
Whole breast: $9 x 8 x 52= $864
Four portions: $2.25 x 8 x 52 = $216
Savings: $864-$216 = $648
$648 over 20 years at 7.25% (ROR) = $2627
