Hello and welcome to the STOCKED: Pantry with Purpose podcast. April is breezing by but not without some contemplation on where we are and where we’re going. Today I’ll be reading What’s on your “yes” list? from Ellevest CEO, Sallie Krawcheck. Full disclosure: Ellevest is an affiliate “partner” of STOCKED.

Here goes:

Since it’s the things we didn’t do — or the risks we didn’t take — that we are said to regret at the end of our lives: I’m going to say yes to as many things as I can from here on out.

Especially after a year of saying no to so many things — for the protection of ourselves and those around us — here's what I'm saying “hell yes” to from now on:

Yes to staying grateful for the people who make our lives so much richer. The staff at our favorite restaurants. Our neighbors. Our teachers. And especially, especially our nurses, doctors, and health care providers.

Yes to getting in touch with our money. And talking about it. So. Much. Talking about it.

Yes to working for a company that prioritizes its people. And asking intentional questions during the interview process to get a feel for the company’s culture and inclusiveness.

Yes to voting in our own best interests. And yes to voting “selfishly” for the things that will make our children’s and other children’s lives better.

Yes to fighting systemic racism. And to the idea that everything we do as a company must be anti-racist as well as pro-women+.

Yes to spending intentionally. And to only spending what feels comfortable today so that our future selves can be intentional, too.

Yes to remembering that the ways the pandemic has shown us how interconnected we all are. And that without a better social safety net, what hurts some of us is much more likely to hurt us all.

Yes to prioritizing my family, visiting my family, and hanging out with my family whenever they ask.

Yes to acknowledging pushing ourselves to learn and master new skills, since we’ve seen just how quickly the world can change, and a broader skill set can help us navigate it.

Yes to practicing financial wellness. And recognizing that it’s just as important as our emotional, physical, and spiritual wellness.

What's on your “yes” list?
